File Association Helper

File Association Helper by WinZip Computing International, LLC

File Association Helper is a lightweight Windows utility that helps you control which applications open your files. Developed by the makers of WinZip, it provides clear prompts to set or restore file type associations—especially after software installations or system updates—so your preferred apps continue to open the files you expect. Whether you want archives like ZIP and ZIPX to open in WinZip or need to fix “Open with” issues, it offers a straightforward way to manage associations without digging through system settings.

Key highlights:

• Guides you in choosing default apps for specific file types
• Helps restore your preferred associations if they change
• Designed to work seamlessly with WinZip for ZIP and ZIPX files
• Simplifies fixing broken icons and “unknown file” errors
• Respects Windows’ default app controls and prompts

Note: Changing default apps may require confirmation in Windows, and available options can vary by Windows version.
